Protect Your Business from Email Spoofing & Phishing Attacks

What is email spoofing?

Email spoofing is when cybercriminals fake your business email address to send fraudulent messages to customers, partners, or employees. These emails often appear to be from a trusted source but contain malicious links or requests for sensitive information.

I’ve been helping businesses that send high-volume marketing outreach and newsletter emails secure their email and protect their deliverability for over a decade.

As of February 1st, 2024, Google started requiring full email authentication for senders exceeding 5,000 emails per day.

But with the rise in spoofing and phishing attacks, email security isn’t just for high-volume senders—it’s important for every business, small and large.

That’s why I decided to offer a Google-compliant email security setup at a price point that makes sense for small businesses.

We’ll help you lock down your domain, prevent email fraud, and ensure your messages land in inboxes—not spam folders. Let’s get your email secured today!

Email Security FAQ

Understanding email security is crucial for protecting your business from cyber threats. In this FAQ, we address common questions about spoofing, phishing, and essential security measures like DMARC, SPF, and DKIM plus answer common questions about our service.

  • What is email spoofing?

Email spoofing is a technique used by cybercriminals to send emails that appear to come from a legitimate source. This can lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information and can damage your business's reputation.
  • What is phishing?

Phishing is a fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information by disguising as a trustworthy entity in electronic communications. It often involves deceptive emails that trick users into revealing personal data.
  • What do I need to establish email security?

To establish robust email security, you need to implement protocols like DMARC, SPF, and DKIM. These protocols help verify the authenticity of your emails and protect against spoofing and phishing attacks.
  • What is DMARC?

DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is an email authentication protocol that helps protect your domain from unauthorized use. It allows you to specify how your emails should be handled if they fail authentication checks.
  • What are SPF and DKIM?

SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) are email authentication methods that help verify the sender's identity. SPF checks if the sending server is authorized to send emails on behalf of your domain, while DKIM adds a digital signature to your emails to ensure they haven't been altered.
  • Why do I need SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for my business email?

SPF, DKIM, and DMARC protect your business from email spoofing and phishing attacks. They ensure only authorized mail servers can send emails on your behalf, preventing hackers from impersonating your business.

  • How does DMARC improve my email deliverability?

When you implement DMARC, email providers recognize your domain as trustworthy, which helps your emails land in inboxes instead of spam folders. This boosts engagement and ensures customers receive important communications.

  • What happens if I don’t set up DMARC?

Without DMARC, cybercriminals can send fake emails from your domain, leading to fraud, phishing attacks, and a damaged brand reputation. Additionally, your real emails may be flagged as spam, reducing your business’s credibility.

  • Will this affect the way I send and receive emails?

No, properly configured SPF, DKIM, and DMARC settings will not impact your normal email operations. Instead, they add a layer of security to prevent unauthorized email use.

  • How do I know if my business email is vulnerable?

Sign up for our free email security audit, and we’ll analyze your domain to identify vulnerabilities and show you how to fix them.

  • How long does it take to set up email authentication?

Once we know your email sending requirements and details, we can implement SPF, DKIM, and DMARC within a matter of hours. However, DNS propagation may take up to 48 hours to fully apply the changes. We then monitor the flow of emails using daily DMARC reports from Google, Microsoft, Yahoo/AOL, etc. to anlyze and verify. Once completed and verified, we will send you a completion report showing the new security implemented.

  • Do I need ongoing monitoring after setting up DMARC?

Yes, but it is not mandatory. DMARC reports help track email authentication and detect new spoofing attempts. We offer ongoing monitoring services to inspect and analyze these reports to ensure your email security remains strong.

  • What information do I need to provide?

We need access to your domain registar DNS settings to be able to add or edit records. GoDaddy, NameCheap, Squarespace, and Network Solutions are common domain registrars, but we work with all of them.

Depending on where your domain name is registered, we will either send an access request for your approval or provide an easy step-by-step how-to grant us access through your registar.

We will assist every step of the way and make it easy.

  • Will you have access to my emails?

No, we very rarely need access to your actual email system. The security settings take place at the domain level so we only need access to your domain registar.

  • What is the cost?

Our email security setup package is a one time charge of $397. If you would like contiual monitoring with daily auditing and monthly reporting, we have that available for an additional $50 a month.

  • How can I get started?

Simply fill out the Free Security Audit form above, and we’ll provide a full analysis of your domain’s email security status. If you need our assistance, we will send an invoice and get started within 48 hours.
